Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, was raised in Wellington) is an Canadian actress from Canada. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this part, she was awarded the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. Following a prompt to auditions open at age nine, and with little acting experience before that, she won Flora McGrath's part. Flora is the daughter of a Scottish pianist, who was deaf. The couple moved into New Zealand during the middle of the nineteenth century in an effort to plan a wedding. Following her move to New Zealand, in the United States, she became an adult. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 as well as a brief appearance as Jane Eyre when she was just a young child. Paquin appeared as Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a smaller role. She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). In addition, she was the character of the teenage groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
